What we loved:

The job posting resources and further reading at the end. This book doesn’t bite off more than it can chew but it doesn’t leave you hanging on what you wish you still knew after reading it.

What we didn't love:

The formatting. The headers don’t say much and the layout makes the book hard to skim. As you’re reading, it’s hard to know where you are relative to everything else. Chapter summaries on each inside title page would have really leveled this ebook up.

Summary:

This is a comprehensive resource for startup hiring, aimed at companies just beginning or continuing to scale up. The points made aren’t anything mind-blowing, but are all things that are somehow often forgotten (especially by confused startup founders who are trying to get from 5 to 50 employees fast).

Speaking of fast, don’t expect this to be a fast read. The layout and structure make it nearly impossible to skim and trying to choose a chapter to reference from the table of contents is a fruitless endeavor.

Block off some time, grab a highlighter and read this book so you’re clear on your philosophy before you go into the shark-infested talent pool.
