Prioritization in product management is a must, and that means that prioritization frameworks are invaluable. Remember that managing priorities is an ongoing process. Trying to prioritize without a strategy in place is still a recipe for bad decisions, moving goalposts, and an uncertain roadmap for the future of your product. Instead, use this in-depth book to set your teams (and yourself!) up to succeed by picking one of seven prioritization methods that meets your organization's needs.

about this ebook

You can't prioritize without some sort of feedback to measure what needs attention. Mastering prioritization starts with managing the channels which provide feedback. Internally that comes from customers, analytics, and your sales and support teams. Externally you want to keep on eye on industry trends and what competitors are doing. Be careful to stay apprised of your dependencies, too! Once you have a solid understanding of where insights are coming from, it's time to arrange them into a framework, rank them, and work them into (or strike them from) the roadmap.

What we loved:

This free ebook felt written for skimmability, meaning we didn’t have to waste time thinking about how it fit into our prioritization framework

What we didn't love:

A little too heavy on the theory. Real-world examples or insights directly from product managers would have added a lot to the overview of frameworks

Summary:

This free ebook on prioritization is clearly written for product managers, and anyone who’s not a PM will most likely find the language and structure inaccessible.

The bulk of the book goes through a few different theoretical frameworks that PMs typically use to prioritize feature requests. Included are opinions on when to use each framework, walkthroughs for implementation and pros and cons. Before reading this free ebook, we had no idea there were so many models for prioritization.

The detailed walkthroughs are helpful, but given the hands-on nature of prioritization, we would have really liked to see some worksheets or templates.
